Mark Harbert: The Equipment I Use for Video Marketing
“I get results with video marketing without using any majorly fancy equipment – The reason is simple; I deliver a message that is on point, and the rest just takes care of itself”
If you’re just getting started with video marketing it can often seem intimidating working out what equipment you need, and how much you need to invest, in order to create high quality videos. But the truth is; most of what you need you likely already own, and what you may need to purchase is certainly within the reach of even the smallest budgets.
Mark Harbert is one of the most respected video marketers in the industry today, having created the popular training program TubeTrafficMojo, and has helped train many entrepreneurs to video marketing success. In Mark’s latest video he walks you through his exact set-up and shows you just how easy it is to duplicate for high quality results.
Mark Harbert’s Video Marketing Equipment…
What type of video camera should you use?
If you want to go for super high quality, you certainly can, but truth is that the back side camera on the Iphone 5s actually rivals some of the best on the market today. If you use an Android, or other device, the quality is also very good on those as well. The point is, the camera on your cell phone will be more than adequate to shoot high quality video.
So you can quit thinking that you need to pay out for super high spec equipment in order to be effective with video marketing, its simply not the case. The quality of the camera on most smart phones rivals some of the most expensive DSLR cameras when you have good lighting.
What should you use for audio?
Bad audio can make your videos very hard for your viewer to connect with, so having high quality audio is absolutely essential. The best (and least expensive) way to get good audio onto your smartphone is by using a plug in lavalier mic. This will put the mic right near you and give you close to perfect audio every time.
Unless you expect all your videos to be shot at super close range, you will need an extension cord. The extension cord Mark recommends is the StarTech Headset Extension Cable.
What should you use for lighting?
Natural light is best, but of course it’s not always possible. If want to shoot videos in the evenings, or when it’s dark, you will need a good lighting kit. The good news is you won’t need to spend a small fortune on an elaborate lighting kit. The kit that Marks uses is the CowboyStudio Lighting Light.
If you are going to be shooting most of the videos yourself, it is recommend you get a tripod. The one Mark purchased, and uses every day, is this one Professional PRO 72-inch Tripod. You will certainly need a tripod because if your video is shaking around all the time, it won’t look professional and will be very distracting for your viewers.as it could.
Using a smartphone tripod mount…
Along with the tripod, Mark uses a mount which screws onto the top of the tripod and holds his phone in place. He recommends the RetiCAM Smartphone Tripod Mount, as it is simple to put the phone in, and take out. You will need this mount because your tripod only comes with the standard screw, and this clamp is custom designed to work with smartphones.
